Devastating front-yard tragedy

OK, so it wasn't quite devastating, and it wasn't exactly a tragedy, but it has left us with muddy water for a few days. We had a water-line pipe come loose under our front yard a couple weeks ago. Steph first noticed we had a little water collecting on the sidewalk in front of our house. I at first thought it might be melting snow/ice, and then I thought maybe our neighbor was watering his tree too much. But eventually when a little water on the sidewalk turned into a heavily soaked front yard, we knew we had a problem. So, the plumber was out at the house Tuesday to dig up the yard, find the pipe and then get it fixed. Now we have a one-foot length of space-age plastic pipe designed by NASA that's supposed to be pretty much indestructible. And we also have about $500 less than before.
