The Camping Invitations/Envelopes

I had a blast designing these this year. I think they are my favorites invites to-date. He's very excited and said "Did you know they had a stick with marshmallows on them!?" :)

Second Race: Midnight Streak

Woot! Nick and I ran in the Midnight Streak last Saturday, it was a lot of fun. Since the race was at night, I wore glo-bracelets. I tried to convince Nick that they would help him run faster, he didn't bite. He's too conservative in these races. :)

Nick's Time: 26:07
Steph's Time: 33:09

I was SUPER happy with my time, I shaved 8.5 minutes off my last race. Big improvement for me in a month!

Nick, who is not happy with his time, did a great job too considering he was shooting a wedding up until the race began.

We're training now and will run several races in October.

Now, off to plan the little camping party...

A Hard Nut To Crack

We're not sure what to get Mase for his birthday. When asked what he would like he said "to go to the beach" and "to go back to Animal Kingdom Lodge". He is clearly wise beyond his years...what kid asks for a trip instead of a toy?

Bikes are common gifts for kiddos his age. We asked him if he would like a bike, he's not so sure. He gave several strong no's, then a yes, then acted uninterested. We're not sold on spending $$ on something in which he's semi-interested.

Honestly, he would love a trip to the zoo. The kid is enthralled with animals. But, I'd feel forever guilty for giving him a trip to the zoo as his present. He did tell me that he really wants a "hyena guy" for his birthday, perhaps that will be one of his gifts. Apparently, zebras got bumped to #2 on the "Favorite Animal" list and were readily replaced by hyenas.

Most of you know that we're into wooden, eco-friendly toys for Mase. In my searches, I found this lovely camp fire stacking toy. Isn't it great!?

Mase loves the great outdoors and since he's having a camping theme for his party, the toy seems fitting.

Hyena guy - check
Fire stacker - check

I have no clue what else to get him. He's a hard nut to crack.

Send any ideas you have our way!

Road Trip 2009

We're back from our 10-day, many thousands of miles, seven states, two country road trip!

The trip started off with a stop in St. Louis to visit a friend and her family. We had a great time hanging out and visiting the zoo with them.

Then we headed north to Chicago and stayed with more friends. We visited the Milwaukee Zoo and then headed off to Toronto where we had even more fun!
