Mason's First Greek Easter

We are finally catching up on sleep from our whirlwind trip to Canada this past weekend. Nick's dad very generously flew us up for Greek Easter and we all had such a great time!

Mason LOVES to ride on airplanes so he's always jazzed when we go to the airport. Despite the nasty cold he developed over the weekend he was nothing short of excited. The Detroit airport has a really neat tunnel with electronic color walls that Mason fell in love with - he still talks about his "color wall".

If you think Greek Easter doesn't consist of massive amounts of food and beer then...well you've just got it pegged wrong. I'm fairly certain that Nick and I both gained ten pounds over the weekend...the food was just too good and we couldn't stop eating. Mason, on the other hand, would not eat a single thing except for fruit which he thought was "yummy." He gained big points in the eyes of his Papou (Nick's dad) who is also a fellow fruit lover. Now he and Mason have two things in common...they both love fruit and they both love sleeping on the couch.

The trip was filled with visits from Greek relatives, egg cracking, lamb roasting, beer, a little dancing on the deck by Nick's mom and above all else....FETA!!!! Mason, the ladies man that he is, stole a kiss from a little Greek girl named Sophia and stole the heart of his Uncle Willy's girlfriend Sonja (I hope I'm spelling her name right). Mason says his favorite part of the trip was "Sun-a" (Sonja) because she "bounced on the big bwoo (blue) ball" with him. He is apparently a fan of the bouncey ball. :)

I'm going to link to pictures from the weekend but first want to warn the many non-Greek readers of the blog....SOME OF THE PICTURES OF THE LAMB ARE GRAPHIC!!!!! I obviously did not grow up Greek and so the pictures really bother me. Please feel free to skip over them if they freak you out.

Random Pics of Mason

Wow, he's growing soooo much! He's so tall now and (if you ask me) cuter than ever!!!! He's really skinny now too, who knew??

Here he is eating watermelon - he WILL NOT use his hands but thinks that watermelon is "yummy"

Here are two pictures of him sleeping on the couch.
Look how big he is!!

We took a river cruise last weekend...
here I am with Mason, we had fun!

The BIG 0-5!!!

Five years!! Wow, where has the time gone?

I feel like we've been together forever yet the past five years has flown by!! We've been busy though, built a new house, each opened our own business, increased our family size by one kid and a beagle and had lots of fun in between!!!

I will say that I can't imagine a more perfect spouse than Nick. Yes he steals the covers and leaves empty deodorant sticks in the drawer...but he's still one of the most amazing people I've ever met. He's a fantastic father and my best friend.

So cheers to the past five years and spending the rest of our lives together!

I'm taking a walk down memory lane - here are some pictures of us over the last five years. I've had a million different hair styles and Nick just gets skinnier as time goes by. :)

My main fear with this show is that it will make me want to give up meat...that scares me. :)

A few random pictures from this week

We've had nutty weather recently...here is our most recent hail storm:

Mason's playground at school is made up of wood chips...we normally find lots of 'sticks' in his hair. Nick found these on Tuesday.

Mase looking very grown up.

Mason's New Safari Room!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pottery Barn Kids will be the death of us!! Nick and I spent more money this weekend on ONE quilt and ONE set of sheets than we care to admit. But...in all honesty the new bedding is a PERFECT fit for Mason!!
Nick and I are proud that we did all of the artwork ourselves!! I also used the flat sheet from his sheet set to sew the curtains with so his bedding and curtains match. :)

Welcome to his new safari room! Here is a view from his door.

This is the view from his bed

Here is a close up of the artwork on the wall by his closet:

This is where his changing table used to be...Nick and I are sad he's growing up and we won't be using it anymore!! You can see a pic of our little zebra guy sitting on the dresser too. :) (Nick and I did the giraffe artwork)

Here is an upclose of the giraffe artwork:

A look at his new bedding - it has super cool giraffe, leopard and an alligator. It even came with a curly-headed boy!!

Mase loves, loves, loves his new room!!!!
